a month agoI recently stayed at Wyndham Grand Athens in one of the rooms with an Acropolis view — absolutely stunning to look at throughout the day and night. The hotel staff were truly outstanding, and I want to give a special shout-out to Niki at guest reception, who was exceptionally kind and helpful. Every interaction with the staff reflected warmth and professionalism. The hotel itself is lovely: clean rooms, spacious bathrooms, and a good amount of space overall. The rooftop breakfast was a highlight — not only was the breakfast area gorgeous, but the spread was fantastic: a generous variety of breads, eggs (prepared in different ways), bacon, sausage, salads, cheeses, cold cuts, jams, honeycomb, teas, juices — you name it. It was a great way to start the day.The restaurant in front of the hotel also deserves praise — the food was excellent and worth trying. That said, let’s be honest about the one drawback: the location. While the hotel is very well connected (close to the metro, taxis, and Uber), the surrounding neighbourhood isn’t the most desirable or charming part of Athens. If I could magically relocate this hotel to a different area, it would have been perfect. The rooftop pool was also smaller than expected compared to photos, but the ambience and view made up for it.Overall, if you’re looking for a good stay with excellent service, great food, and stunning Acropolis views, I’d definitely recommend Wyndham Grand Athens — just go in knowing the neighbourhood is not the most glamorous part of town.

a month agoRooms: the walls are very thin, you can hear your neighbors. We stayed on the 8th floor. On the 9th floor is dinner and breakfast served. Every day until late and EVERY morning around 5:45am the staff starts to move the tables and chairs. This creates so loud noise that I never slept longer than 6am. If you are a morning person, you might don’t care.Hygiene: after we changed the first room (incredibly dirty) we got an upgrade which was nice. But also this room, less dirty but faaar away from a clean room.Breakfast: a big variety of options. All low quality. You eat on the terrace with maybe 100 other ppl. Coffee aweful, unless you pay extra for a good one from the bar..Location: very poor area with drug addicts directly around the corner. You should get a taxi in the evening/night. Entrances of houses nearby are having blue lights thus junkies cant find a vein..View: Really close are abandoned places, in the distance nice view on Akropolis. But you need to be able to blend out the poverty around you.Guests: School trips with teenager. Big busses arriving every day with tourists from everywhere. Couples who might made the same mistake like us or they like places like this. But during breakfast you can hear people complaining about the hotel.Overall: never ever a 5 star hotel. In my opinion maximum 3* with friendly staff at the reception

a month ago5* only in name. The rooms are spacious, but the room clean standard is medium at best. The floors are not properly cleaned, and chairs are stained. The finishing in the room and bathroom is again medium to poor. The building external blue lights makes it impossible to sleep without the curtains fully closed. Although the room is 200-300€/night they only give you included 2 pods of coffee regardless of the number of days. Any extra is 1,5 €. They can do a lot better for that money. The bed is comfortable, and bedsheets are properly clean.

3 weeks agoVery nice room. Very amicable staff. Beautiful rooftop views of the Acropolis, as well as being two or three subway stops from Syntagma Square. We stayed there for two days to catch a cruise, but I would like to stay there again if I go to Athens.

a month agoNot really a 5 star hotel. Staff is nice and helpful. The (small) rooftop pool area is nice, great views (breakfast is served up there, sunset is also nice). But: the shower leaks, the breakfast is mediocre at best, the area especially towards town is run down and creepy at night. The rooms are nice and the beds are comfortable, but not great. Depending on where your room is, the street noise goes all night. Can’t leave the widowed open and even when they are closed, you can hear the cars and the motorbikes… too expensive for what you get
